Terms Entered in Search Tools
When a visitor enters a name, location, or other term in a partner search tool, the query is sent to the third-party provider that operates that tool. Summit County Released Inmates does not store or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider's privacy terms govern its receipt and handling of the query.
Messages Sent to Us
If you send an email or contact-form message, we keep the message and the contact details needed to answer it. We do not share that correspondence outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law or a valid legal process.
Information Collected Automatically
Standard web systems may record technical and usage details when a page loads. These logs help maintain the site and show how it performs. The data may include:
- The visitor's Internet Protocol address
- Browser name and version
- Device type and operating system
- Pages viewed and time spent on them
- The referring website, when supplied

Links and Government Records
This site links to Summit County Sheriff's Office records pages, the Summit County Clerk, ODRC, VINE, federal locators, and outside search tools. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination's own privacy policy and practices control. Ohio government records are maintained under the law that applies to the public office, including Ohio Revised Code 149.43 and its exceptions. This site does not control those source records.
Advertising partners may use their own technology to measure activity across websites and select interest-based advertisements. That tracking occurs through the partner's systems and is governed by the partner's terms, not this site's storage practices.
When Information May Be Shared
We do not sell personal information. Data may be provided to limited recipients when needed to run the site or comply with law:
- Search partners that receive and process submitted queries
- Analytics providers that measure site traffic and use
- Advertising networks that deliver or measure advertisements
- Law enforcement or another government body acting under a valid legal order
Our Security Practices
Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards are used to protect information under our control. No website, network, transmission method, or storage system can be guaranteed fully secure. We therefore cannot promise that unauthorized access, loss, or disclosure will never occur.
Visitors Under Eighteen
This website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a parent or guardian believes a minor submitted information, they may use the Contact Us page to request review and deletion.
Your Privacy Choices
Subject to applicable law and our ability to verify a request, a visitor may ask us to take the following actions for personal information held by this site:
- Provide a copy of the personal information we hold
- Correct inaccurate personal information
- Delete personal information that need not be retained
- Stop or limit certain processing when that choice is available
These requests do not change records held by the Summit County Sheriff, a court, ODRC, VINE, BOP, ICE, or a search partner. A correction to an official record must go to the office that maintains it.
Changes to This Notice
We may revise this privacy notice as the website or its practices change. A revised version takes effect when posted here and will carry an updated effective date. Effective date: July 31, 2026.
